Paging Dr. Robby, you’ve just won a Golden Globe. At the 83rd Golden Globes, which took place on Sunday evening at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, Noah Wyle won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama for his work on The Pitt.
In his acceptance speech, Wyle remarked that he didn’t know “how to say all my gratitude from 54 years in 60 seconds.” “I’m indebted to so many people. I’ve been inspired by so many people,” Wyle said. He added that his inspirations included his fellow nominees, and thanked them for their “incredible work.”
“I’ve been very blessed in my life,” Wyle continued. “I was raised in a family that placed a high priority on art, and on curiosity and on service. I’ve benefitted from incredible teachers, and I’ve received incredible advice from some very good friends. And I’ve been supported by an incredible wife and three great children all along the way. I’m so grateful for this.”
Wyle thanked a few people in particular, namely executives at HBO Max (“Casey Bloys, Sarah Aubrey, Joey Chavez”), John Wells Productions (“John Wells and Scott Gemmell, for your friendship and your partnership and changing my life, now twice”), and Warner Bros. Television. Referring to the latter’s chairwoman Channing Dungey, Wyle said, “May our love affair go on forever.”
Of course, Wyle again thanked “all the healthcare workers in the world.” He previously shouted out healthcare professionals last September upon receiving his first Emmy Award.
But Wyle saved his best for last. To close his speech, he thanked his wife Sarah Wells, and wished her a happy birthday on stage. “I hope you’re enjoying your party,” Wyle said to her.
Tonight’s ceremony marks Wyle’s first-ever Golden Globe. He was previously nominated for Best Supporting Actor three times in a row, between 1997 and 1999, for his role on ER. His victory also continues a hot streak that started last August, when Wyle won the award for Individual Achievement in Drama by the Television Critics Association. In September, Wyle won his first Emmy Award, for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Drama Series (for which he won as an executive producer).
With The Pitt having just kicked off its second season, perhaps there’s another trophy for Wyle in the future.
