Timothée Chalamet is all smiles at the Golden Globes after is big win for Best Actor for “Marty Supreme”
“One Battle After Another,” the action thriller partly filmed in El Paso, won big during last night’s Golden Globe Awards.
The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro, snagged four awards during the Jan. 11 show, which aired live on CBS and Paramount + from Beverly Hills, California.
The Paul Thomas Anderson film was shot in El Paso for 18 days between May and June 2024 and contributed nearly $6 million in direct spending in El Paso, according to Destination El Paso, the city’s marketing organization. A significant portion of the spending was building two major sets, which required extensive materials and labor.
El Pasoans were excited as local sightings of DiCaprio and del Toro began to surface — the pair were spotted filming in the Downtown area, and dining at Cafe Central. Del Toro was also captured attending a Chihuahuas baseball game.
The film won in the following categories:
- Best comedy or musical
- Best director: Paul Thomas Anderson
- Best screenplay: Paul Thomas Anderson
- Best supporting actress: Teyana Taylor
DiCaprio was also nominated in the “Best actor in a comedy or musical” but the trophy ultimately went to Timothée Chalamet for his role in “Marty Supreme.”
