Back in 1970, fans were introduced to Susan when she first began starring in the soap opera All My Children. Portraying Erica Kane, Susan’s character went through plenty of drama in love, family and much more. The actress stayed on All My Children throughout its entire run, from 1970 to 2011.
To mark the anniversary of the first episode of All My Children, Susan posted snapshots from her time on the show on Instagram. And if that’s not enough, she also used the moment to thank series creator Agnes Nixon, her former castmates, and her loyal followers for the impact they made on her throughout her career.
“January 5, 1970: All My Children premieres. And everything changes,” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you to Agnes Nixon for creating Pine Valley and for Erica Kane. To all the cast and crew, I love you, always.”
“And to the fans—thank you for watching—and for your passion!!!” she added. “Thank you for keeping us on the air for forty one years!!! ❤️🎉🎊.”
When fans saw the emotional way Susan walked down memory lane for All My Children, they had to say just how much they loved watching her when the series was on the air.
“All my children is my favorite soap opera of all time there will never be another Erica Kane 💕💕💕,” one person wrote in the comments. “I miss the amazing Erica Kane and All My Children. We adore seeing how much Susan still loves All My Children! And when she previously spoke to Good Housekeeping about whether she’d ever reprise her role in the future, she said she wouldn’t say no to the opportunity.
“Yes, of course I would,” she told us in February 2025. “And I would hope it would be more than a cameo, because that part was really wonderful, and I miss playing her.”
