A royal insider reveals that Prince William is making a point of keeping his distance from ex-Prince Andrew.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, royal expert Hilary Fordwich said she believes William is keeping his distance from his troubled uncle in the wake of Andrew’s ongoing scandals. She added that the prince wants to remove himself from any fallout linked to Andrew’s legal and public troubles.
“Prince William, in particular, is the strongest proponent of distancing Andrew from the royal family,” Fordwich told the news outlet. “He wants his wayward uncle as far away as possible.”
“He doesn’t want his reign overshadowed by such scandals. Let alone living in constant fear of another damaging revelation with lurid headlines,” she explained.

“The last thing William wants, while focusing on duty and modernizing the monarchy, is to have the liability of Andrew around,” Fordwich concluded. “He wants distance in every sense. He’s also in tune with public sentiment, and the issue is trust in the monarchy.”
In October 2025, Andrew was stripped of his title of prince reported the BBC. His brother, King Charles, released a statement about the removal as published by the outlet.
“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the style, titles and honors of Prince Andrew. Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” the statement began.
It continued, “His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence. Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.”
“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him. Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse,” it concluded.
Andrew Mountbatten Windsor stepped back from public duties in 2019 amid scrutiny over his association with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. He was later accused of sexual assault by Virginia Giuffre. In a 2019 Newsnight interview, Prince Andrew denied Guiffre’s allegations of sexual abuse, claiming he had “no recollection” of meeting her.
