Jessica Andrews was just 15 when she signed her first record deal, and two years later she dropped a hit that has lived on even as she faded away on purpose.

That song was “Who I Am,” which became a No. 1 country music hit in 2001. It was the title track of her second studio album. A third album — “Now” — came in 2003, and that was it.

There have been a few singles along the way, but fans haven’t gotten an album or much at all — by design — from Andrews in the 20-plus years since.

Then there was a flicker, but that turned out to be an impostor releasing music under her name last year.

And then … there she was.

Andrews reappeared this week courtesy of fellow singer Jessie James Decker. Decker shared a video of the two, seated in a stairwell, trading lines as they put together a beautiful version of “Who I Am.”

“Who remembers this one?” Decker wrote. “One of the biggest country songs of our childhood! I’ve known Jess for many years and I’m lucky to call her a friend. Such a sweet soul and incredible vocalist.”

Fans loved it.

“Oh wow used to love Jessica,” one person replied. “So glad to see she’s doing well!!! Y’all sound great!”

“I was obsessed with this song!!!” another wrote. “I can’t believe you’re doing it together here, love love love!!!”

“Oh my God,” another wrote. “Haven’t heard this song in like 20 yrs!! Loved it so much.”

“Omg,” another replied. “My favorite song ever.”

“This made my middle school girl heart so happy,” another wrote.

While it is unclear of Andrews has any plans to come back with more music, her fans clearly remember and have love for her and that song, which made it to No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100, per Parade Magazine.
