Arctic Monkeys are set to return with a new charity single on Thursday (22.01.26)

The indie rock legends have kept a low profile, releasing no new music since their 2022 album The Car, and have been on hiatus from live performances since 2023.

This week, however, War Child Records shared on Instagram: “New track from @arcticmonkeys and more info about our upcoming project to support children living through war.”

War Child – which helps children in war-torn countries – had hinted that a new album was on the way by teasing that “a group of artists” are “working on something important in support of” the non-profit.

The band’s drummer, Matt Helders, and producer, James Ford, shared the news on their Instagram Stories, sparking speculation that Arctic Monkeys are involved.

Last year, there were hints that the band was preparing for a comeback.

Those in attendance at the Music Week Awards at London’s JW Marriott Grosvenor House, in May, were left gobsmacked when frontman Alex Turner appeared on stage to present their manager Ian McAndrew with The Strat Award, prompting talk that they could be eyeing a return.

Then, eagle-eyed fans spotted that the I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor group’s official website removed the album cover for The Car, and a new page for a newsletter appeared.

What’s more, the band members – also including Jamie Cook and Nick O’Malley – launched a new record company, BANG BANG RECORDINGS LLP, which appeared on Companies House.
