Alex Gordon is in the Kansas City Royals Hall of Fame.
He won’t be making it into the National Baseball Hall of Fame, but he’s on the board, if you will.
The voting results for this year’s class were released on Tuesday night. And Gordon avoided a shutout.
He got exactly one vote.
It means the first-year nominee won’t be back on the ballot next year, but he goes into a fascinating group of players who got exactly one vote for the Hall of Fame.
This year, Orioles outfielder Nick Markakis also got exactly one vote.

Gordon was the No. 2 overall pick by the Royals in the 2005 MLB Draft out of Nebraska.
He made three All-Star teams and won the 2015 World Series with Kansas City.
Gordon came up as a third baseman, but he turned into the best left fielder defensively in the game. He won eight Gold Gloves, including two Platinum Gloves as the best defensive player in all of baseball in those two seasons.
He finished his career with a .257 average, 190 home runs and 113 steals.
It takes a lot of career achievement to even make the ballot, and to get a vote is a cool little honor for Gordon, who will always be remembered fondly in Kansas City.
