Megan Moroney Drops Flirty New Anthem “Wish I Didn’t” With Dylan Efron–Starring Music Video and ‘Cloud 9’ Era Glow Up (Watch Now)

Megan Moroney is officially in her main character, no-regrets era, and we’d be lying if we said we weren’t obsessed.

The multi-platinum superstar just dropped her outrageously catchy new single “Wish I Didn’t,” on Friday (January 16) and it’s giving flirty, fearless, and fully unbothered energy. Released via Sony Music Nashville/Columbia Records, the fiery-but-fun anthem marks the third taste of her highly anticipated third studio album, Cloud 9, arriving February 20 — if this track is any indication, Megan’s new era is about confidence, clarity, and calling out walking red flags with a smile.

Described by Moroney as a song written by “the strongest, most confident version of myself I’ve ever been,” “Wish I Didn’t” blends her signature heartbreak storytelling with bold-girl bravado. Over glossy country-pop production, she sizes up a potential paramour with a sketchy past before delivering the ultimate warning: don’t make me regret liking you.

Written by Moroney alongside Emily Weisband, Hillary Lindsey, and Luke Laird, the track opens with breezy suspicion before exploding into a chorus that feels tailor-made for screaming in your car with the windows down. One of the standout moments comes when Megan cleverly nods to her own hit-making track record: “Stone cold killers have guns / But I’ve got songs.”

Produced by Kristian Bush (who also helmed Lucky and Am I Okay?), the song delivers pulse-pounding energy, stacked harmonies, and radiant guitar tones — aka the sonic equivalent of blocking your ex and thriving.

Starring Megan opposite reality TV star, content creator and former Dancing with the Stars finalist Dylan Efron, the official music video can only be described as a glam, chaotic, modern-day Mr. & Mrs. Smith fantasy. Directed by Lauren Dunn, the two play a seemingly perfect married couple… who are secretly rival assassins. Naturally.

The cinematic visual picks up where Megan’s Cloud 9 tracklist reveal left off and delivers nonstop action, tension, and fashion moments, including a choreographed dinner table showdown that feels equal parts rom-com and action thriller. It’s flirty, fun, dramatic, and packed with Easter eggs for fans, ending on a cliffhanger that has us begging for part two.

But let’s be real: the beauty looks deserve their own standing ovation. For the video, Megan served full Cloud 9 glam fantasy, courtesy of Too Faced and makeup artist Jessica Candage — and yes, we need every product immediately as its so Cloud 9 core.

“With the perfect finishing touches for Megan’s new music video, I used Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara ($29) in Black on her top lashes and Chocolate ($29) on the bottom to complement her blue eyes,” Candage shared.

She continued, “I used the Disco Crush Multi-Use Eye Shadow & Highlighter in Fairy Dust ($30) on the center of the eyelid with my finger and then applied the Better Than Sex Easy Glide Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Black ($26) for the perfect cat eye.”

And for that dreamy flush? “To stay on theme for this music video, I used the Cloud Crush Blurring Blush in Candy Clouds ($32) for the perfect wash of baby pink.”

Back in November, Megan opened up to Celeb Secrets about how Cloud 9 reflects a brand-new chapter in her life — one defined by confidence, clarity, and emotional growth. And “Wish I Didn’t” fits that narrative perfectly.

“I feel like I’ve lived enough life and grown up enough to where not only do I feel qualified to tell myself, ‘you are worth it,’” she told our reporters at a media session during her Raising Cane’s homecoming pop-up in Athens, GA. “I feel qualified to tell other people, ‘you’re worth it too.’”

“There’s a softness to this album that hasn’t been in my other albums,” she continued. “I think that comes from me being confident enough to know that it’s okay to be soft. You don’t always have to be on guard.”

The 15-track album will also feature her recent Country radio hits “6 Months Later” and “Beautiful Things,” plus collaborations with Ed Sheeran and Kacey Musgraves. And if that wasn’t enough, Megan is gearing up for her massive CLOUD 9 TOUR, a 49-date international run that’s already sold over 450,000 tickets — proving once again that sad-girl country has officially entered its pop girl domination era.
