Victoria and David Beckham have returned to Instagram for the first time since their son Brooklyn’s bombshell statement in which he accused them of trying to sabotage his relationship.
A day after their eldest son, 26, took aim at his parents with a raft of damaging accusations, the couple have returned to social media.
It comes just hours after Brooklyn used his Instagram stories to accuse his parents of “trying endlessly to ruin his relationship” with actress and model Nicola Peltz-Beckham before his 2022 wedding.
Among the most scathing claims, Brooklyn says his mother hijacked the couple’s plans for a “romantic dance” on their wedding day, instead dancing “very inappropriately on me in front of everyone”.
And while speculation about the former Spice Girl’s alleged act has become the most popular meme on Instagram, she instead took a “nothing to see here” approach to the dramas.
Instead, Victoria used her Instagram stories, followed by 33.5 million users, to wish her fellow Spice Girl Emma Bunton a happy birthday.
And, sharing a clip of Emma in their famously raunchy “Say You’ll Be There” video, she wrote: “Happy birthday Baby. Kisses x x x.”
Just minutes later, David also side-stepped the controversy, to send his well wishes to former Manchester United team mates Nicky Butt and Philip Neville, as well as his Neville’s sister and former England netball player Tracey Neville.
“Happy Birthday mate,” he wrote.
The couple’s joint approach to the controversy which has dominated the headlines indicates the couple plan to avoid weighing into the claims made by their son.
While David appeared at an event just hours after his son’s statement was published, he refused to address the claims directly.
In the lengthy statement on Instagram on Tuesday, Brooklyn also claimed:
- His mum cancelled making Nicola’s wedding dress at the “eleventh hour”, forcing her to find another dress.
- He had received “endless attacks” from his parents both privately and publicly, including stories sent to the press “on their orders”.
- His mum called him “evil” because he and Nicola included grandparents at the bridal table, instead of his parents.
- His parents attempted to “bribe” him into “signing away the rights” to his name before his wedding day.
- Nicola was referred to as “not blood” and “not family” by members of the Beckham family
- David “rejected” Brooklyn and Nicola’s request to see him in London for his birthday, unless they turned up at his party “with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner.”
- David eventually agreed to meet Brooklyn, under the condition Nicola wasn’t invited.
- That “Brand Beckham” comes first and family members were valued based on their social media posts or availability for photo opportunities.
