Music as offering: Tala Prattoy’s global tribute to Goddess Saraswati

The fourth edition of Tala Prattoy’s signature cultural initiative — Music in a Park 4.0 — struck just the right note on Wednesday evening, as the Tala Prattoy Puja Prangon resonated with a confluence of Indian and global sounds on the eve of Saraswati Puja.

The 4th edition featured the Kazakhstan National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by maestro Abzal Mukhitdin, accompanied by Ballet Gakku, the acclaimed Kazakh Dance Ensemble, marking a rare and powerful international collaboration on a Kolkata stage.

Under the open sky, music lovers from across the city gathered to witness an unforgettable evening where legendary violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam, eminent vocalist Kavita Krishnamurti, and tabla maestro Pt. Tanmoy Bose, along with an international ensemble, created a seamless blend of classical finesse and contemporary harmony. Their spellbinding synergy transcended borders, turning the park into a canvas of rhythm and reverence.

Conceptualised as Tala Prattoy’s annual musical tribute to Goddess Saraswati, Music in a Park has become a much-awaited fixture in Kolkata’s festive calendar — a celebration that bridges devotion with diversity. Speaking about the initiative, Dhrubajyoti Bose Suvo, mentor of Tala Prattoy, said, “We strongly believe that Bengal has a culture that promotes bonding. On the eve of Saraswati Puja, this confluence of Indian and international culture sends out a message that music can foster unity and bring the whole world together.”
