While on an official engagement with Prince William in Falkirk, the Princess of Wales dashed past her protection officers to comfort a diehard royal fan
Princess Kate has gone off script while in Scotland to greet a royal fan, dashing past her protection officers. The Prince and Princess of Wales undertook a day of royal engagements in Scotland on Tuesday, where they visited the iconic Kelpies sculpture in Falkirk before heading to the National Curling Academy in Stirling, where both tried their hand at the winter sport.
Afterwards, they received a masterclass in tartan weaving at Radical Weavers – a local studio and charity – before heading to a pub for their final engagement of the day. After leaving the Radical Weavers, William and Kate were met with an excited crowd of royal fans.

The royal couple waved and took selfies with those gathered, before the Princess of Wales spotted a far-away fan who looked crestfallen to not have a personal interaction with the future king and queen, who are known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland.
Kate ran past her security and protection officers after spotting the fan, with her disappointment quickly turning to joy. The princess accepted a bouquet of flowers from the woman and stopped for a photo opportunity before returning to the car.
The footage of Kate racing in high-heeled boots quickly circulated online, drawing widespread admiration. One viewer on YouTube observed that the couple “must drive their security crazy [by] going off-script” constantly, adding: “But that is why the people love them so much.”
A user on X remarked that “only she would do that,” describing the gesture as a “beautiful reminder of how deeply she truly cares about people.”
Several royal watchers also noted her “perfect poise even while running in heels,” whilst others drew parallels between Kate’s rapport with crowds and the connection Princess Diana shared with admirers.
After leaving the tartan-weaving workshop, William and Kate travelled to a community pub in the former mining village of Fallin, where they were heckled upon their arrival over William’s disgraced uncle Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and his connection to billionaire paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Crowds gathered to see the Prince and Princess of Wales arrive at the Stirlingshire pub, but one member of the public shouted at the couple, saying: “How long have you known about Andrew and Epstein? Have you been covering up for Andrew?”
It was a reference to the controversy around Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, formally known as Prince Andrew before King Charles stripped him of his royal titles and honours in October.
Security had to calm the member of the public who started the heckles outside the Gothenburg pub yesterday, where Kate and William remained unfettered. They then spoke to members of the Stirlingshire community, including some teachers, whose attitudes contrasted the initial tension.
