While Athena, who is celebrating her birthday today, is part of the Royal Family, she does not get a royal title. This is despite the fact that she is 11th in line to the throne.
However, while she does not have a title from King Charles, she does have another royal-like title that belongs to her, and has had since the moment she was born.
This was revealed by Edoardo’s dad, Count Alessandro Mapelli Mozzi, in 2020.
Speaking to the Daily Mail before Edoardo and Beatrice’s wedding, Alessandro said: “Edoardo is the only male descendant taking the family into the next generation.”
He continued: “He is a count, his wife will be a countess automatically and any of their children will be counts or nobile donna.”
Beatrice’s daughters, Athena and Sienna, therefore have an Italian title, despite the fact that they don’t have a royal one in the UK.
They don’t have a title from King Charles as they are not the monarch’s grandchildren. Instead, King Charles is their great-uncle.
This same rule applies to Princess Eugenie’s two sons, August and Ernest. This is despite the fact that Beatrice and Eugenie both have the royal title of ‘Princess’, which they were entitled to as their grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, was on the throne when they were born.
