Oscars snub Ariana Grande for best supporting actress. See nominations

When are the Oscars? 98th annual Academy Awards will air at 7 pm ET Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, on NBC.

Though Ariana Grande lost a Critics’ Choice Award and a Golden Globe for her performance in “Wicked: For Good,” at least she was nominated.

The pop star was completely excluded from the 2026 Academy Awards. Grande, her co-star Cynthia Erivo, and the entire “Wicked: For Good” cast were snubbed from Oscar nominations, which were released Thursday, Jan. 22.

The Florida-born multi-hyphenate was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Critics’ Choice Awards earlier this month and the 83rd annual Golden Globes on Jan. 11, but didn’t take home either award.

Here’s what we know about Ariana Grande’s award nominations this year, her next movie role and her upcoming “Eternal Sunshine Tour.”

Ariana Grande and awards season: Did Florida’s Ariana Grande win a Golden Globe? Which stars did

Oscar nominations 2026 snub Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo. No nominations for ‘Wicked: For Good’

Nominations for the 98th annual Academy Awards were announced Thursday, Jan. 22. “Wicked: For Good” was not nominated for any awards, shocking “Wicked” fans. The first “Wicked” movie earned 10 nominations and won two awards at the 2025 Oscars ceremony.

“Grande’s snub was perhaps the most surprising, especially considering some awards followers saw her as a front-runner to win the best supporting actress Oscar earlier in the season,” USA TODAY reported following the snub.

Listed below are the 2026 Oscar nominations for “Best Supporting Actress.”

  • Elle Fanning, “Sentimental Value”
  • Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, “Sentimental Value”
  • Amy Madigan, “Weapons”
  • Wunmi Mosaku, “Sinners”
  • Teyana Taylor, “One Battle After Another”

The 98th annual Academy Awards ceremony will be at 7 p.m. ET Sunday, March 15, 2026. You can watch the awards ceremony live on ABC with your live TV provider and on Hulu.

Ariana Grande didn’t win Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe. Here’s who did

Grande was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Glinda in “Wicked: For Good.” The award ultimately went to Teyana Taylor for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in “One Battle After Another.”

“I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I was [going to win],” Taylor said in her speech. “Thank you to the Golden Globe voters for seeing me and reminding me that purpose always finds its moment.”

Did Ariana Grande get nominated for a Grammy in 2026?

Ariana Grande is nominated alongside “Wicked” co-star Cynthia Erivo for two Grammy Awards in 2026.

Grande and Erivo are nominated for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” for “Defying Gravity.” Grande, Erivo, the “Wicked” cast, and the “Wicked” musical composers and producers are also nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

The 68th annual Grammy Awards will take place Sunday, Feb. 1, live at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, broadcasting live on CBS and streaming live on Paramount+.

What is Ariana Grande’s next movie role?

Grande’s acting resume is rapidly expanding post-“Wicked,” with three projects in the works. The pop star leads the upcoming “Focker In-Law movie,” which will be released in November 2026.

It was also announced last month that she will appear in season 13 of “American Horror Story” alongside a star-studded cast, including series alums Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters (who appeared in one of Grande’s music videos).

Is Ariana Grande going to tour in 2026? ‘Eternal Sunshine’ concerts kick off in June

Yes, Grande reassured her fans in November that she will still hold space for her singing career as she takes on more acting roles.

However, in an episode of “Good Hang With Amy Poehler,” she said her upcoming tour may be her last for a “long time.”

“I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time,” she told Poehler in the Tuesday podcast episode. “So I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful and I think that’s why I’m doing it, because it’s like, one last hurrah.”

She’s preparing to embark on her “Eternal Sunshine Tour,” which will run from June 2026 through Sept. 1. She will perform three sold-out shows at Sunrise’s Amerant Bank Arena over the summer.
