The Florida-born multi-hyphenate was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the Critics’ Choice Awards earlier this month and the 83rd annual Golden Globes on Jan. 11, but didn’t take home either award.

Nominations for the 98th annual Academy Awards were announced Thursday, Jan. 22. “Wicked: For Good” was not nominated for any awards, shocking “Wicked” fans. The first “Wicked” movie earned 10 nominations and won two awards at the 2025 Oscars ceremony.
“Grande’s snub was perhaps the most surprising, especially considering some awards followers saw her as a front-runner to win the best supporting actress Oscar earlier in the season,” USA TODAY reported following the snub.

Grande was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Glinda in “Wicked: For Good.” The award ultimately went to Teyana Taylor for her role as Perfidia Beverly Hills in “One Battle After Another.”
“I almost didn’t even write a speech because I didn’t think I was [going to win],” Taylor said in her speech. “Thank you to the Golden Globe voters for seeing me and reminding me that purpose always finds its moment.”

Grande’s acting resume is rapidly expanding post-“Wicked,” with three projects in the works. The pop star leads the upcoming “Focker In-Law movie,” which will be released in November 2026.
It was also announced last month that she will appear in season 13 of “American Horror Story” alongside a star-studded cast, including series alums Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters (who appeared in one of Grande’s music videos).

“I’m very excited to do this small tour, but I think it might not happen again for a long, long, long, long time,” she told Poehler in the Tuesday podcast episode. “So I’m going to give it my all and it’s going to be beautiful and I think that’s why I’m doing it, because it’s like, one last hurrah.”
She’s preparing to embark on her “Eternal Sunshine Tour,” which will run from June 2026 through Sept. 1. She will perform three sold-out shows at Sunrise’s Amerant Bank Arena over the summer.
