Several standout contestants from The Traitors including crime author Harriet Tyce and cyber security consultant Stephen Libby are already seeing commercial success
BBC The Traitors has banished the January gloom.
Claudia Winkleman’s captivating programme has been delivering compelling viewing for millions during the opening weeks of the year.
Yet, as with all great entertainment, the series must draw to a close.
The finale is set for Friday (January 23) evening – kicking off with an extended final instalment at 8.30pm, immediately followed by The Traitors Uncloaked at 9.45pm.
Whilst audiences await the revelation of whether the Traitors or Faithfuls will claim victory – along with the substantial prize pot – several breakout personalities have undoubtedly secured bright prospects beyond the show’s conclusion.
Here, we examine The Traitors series four’s true victors.
Harriet Tyce
Despite her departure from the castle last week, the former barrister turned crime novelist’s courtroom-esque confrontation with Traitor Rachel Duffy remains firmly etched in viewers’ memories, reports the Mirror.
The Faithful’s dramatic intervention at breakfast captured social media’s imagination, followed by her remarkable efforts to expose Rachel during an intense roundtable discussion before offering herself up. These extraordinary moments generated significant online buzz, which translated into a surge in the author’s book sales.
The Bookseller reported that Harriet’s sales jumped by 95.6% after her initial castle appearance. Her latest novel, A Lesson In Cruelty, published in 2024, experienced weekly sales growth from 181 copies to 354, according to NielsenIQ BookData.
Meanwhile, her 2020 novel, The Lies You Tok, saw sales surge by 93.4% in the week following her television appearance.
Stephen Libby
Stephen has taken bold gambles throughout the competition – decisions that seem to be working in his favour for now. Last week’s episode saw the Scotsman attract controversy when he and Rachel eliminated Jessie, despite knowing it could backfire given she had voiced doubts about him just before her departure.
Regardless of whether Stephen claims the prize money, his public profile has undoubtedly received a significant boost from the programme. His Instagram following has swelled to 188,000, with the show clearly winning him a substantial fanbase.
The cyber security specialist may well transition into the entertainment industry once filming wraps, particularly as fans have spotted he already has a celebrity connection that could smooth the path. There have been suggestions that comedian Lou Sanders is Stephen’s landlord, though his partner Daniel Quirke has clarified she’s simply a friend rather than their landlord.
Given Stephen’s burgeoning social media presence and entertainment industry links, he could be riding a wave of success – even should his Traitor identity be exposed before the finale.
Matthew Hyndman
Though his arrangement with the Traitors to switch allegiances ultimately failed when the Faithful contestant was banished after that ceremonial dagger moment, the Northern Irish participant has experienced a remarkable surge in popularity since the series launched. Matthew maintains two Instagram accounts – his primary profile with 142,000 followers and a secondary account, HeadstandMatty, which has amassed 25,500 followers.
It’s this second profile that could prove financially lucrative following his stint on the BBC programme.
On HeadstandMatty, Matthew shares photographs of himself performing headstands whilst nude in various remote Scottish locations. Each image is available for purchase online at £120.
The photographs formed part of his artistic project, Upended, which was showcased at Bard – an Edinburgh gallery and shop specialising in Scottish craft and design – in October 2024.
Matthew has kept the project going, continuing to post and sell additional nude photographs online after appearing on The Traitors. Speaking to Attitude magazine about the work, he explained: “My headstands are acts of defiance and liberation. I’m shedding more than my clothes and inhibitions; I like to think I’m also shedding an institutionalised version of myself at the same time. I’m baring everything.”
Jack Butler
In an emotional scene during last week’s episode, Faithful Jack revealed his plans to propose to his girlfriend once he left the castle, as contestants discussed how they would spend the prize money.
He confided in the group: “I also have secret plans.” Jack continued: “I’m planning to propose to my partner, so it’d be nice to spend a bit of money on that, maybe taking her somewhere nice.”
It seems Jack did indeed propose to his girlfriend Kim over the summer, during a scenic getaway to Santorini, Greece. Jewellery brand Durham Rose posted pictures from the memorable occasion in August this year.
In an Instagram post, they shared the engagement photographs and wrote in the caption: “Our client’s proposal is giving us all the Pinterest vibes! Dreamy Santorini, sun-kissed yacht, and a YESS to this beautifully bespoke ring! !” The engagement post emerged following Jack’s remarks on the BBC programme, suggesting he may have secured victory in the series.
Yet, even if the Faithful doesn’t manage to claim the cash prize in the end, achieving his personal milestone is a triumph in itself.
