As he prepares to move out of Royal Lodge in Windsor, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor made a secret trip to the Sandringham Estate to see his new home as it undergoes a series of renovations. Andrew travelled there last week to look around Marsh Farm, which now has extra security and is surrounded by 6-foot fences.
A friend of Andrew’s told the Sun: “It was the first time he’s seen his new house and he is resigned to the fact that this is his future. He’s come to the conclusion that he has to get on with the rest of his life and accepts he has to make the best of it.”
On Tuesday, the former prince was seen driving himself out at around 9am in one of his Range Rovers, before arriving at Sandringham just after midday. It is believed he got inside the King’s Estate using one of many farm-track rear entrances.
An onlooker said they saw several black Range Rovers driving along the tracks from Wood Farm towards Marsh Farm. It has been reported that he will reside at neighbouring Wood Farm Cottage until renovations to Marsh Farm are complete.
It is believed Andrew will have fully vacated Royal Lodge before his birthday on February 19, when its keys will be handed back to King Charles.
Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, 66, is also due to leave Royal Lodge, but it was not yet known where she will live. Sarah has lived with her disgraced ex-husband in the Grade II-listed mansion since 2008, despite their 1996 divorce.
Towards the end of 2025, King Charles initiated the formal process to strip Andrew of his remaining royal titles and ordered him to vacate Royal Lodge.
This decision followed renewed, intense scrutiny regarding Andrew’s past links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The publication of a posthumous memoir by accuser Virginia Giuffre, which included accusations of sexual assault, exacerbated the scandal. Andrew continues to deny all accusations made against him.
