This year saw some momentous moments like the Oasis reunion concert, Taylor Swift’s engagement to NFL player Travis Kelce, David Beckham becoming a Sir, as well as headlines about the BBC with Gary Lineker leaving Match of The Day, and two of the corporation’s most high profile figures – Tim Davie and Deborah Turness – resigning. Elsewhere Strictly Come Dancing hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman also announced their farewell from the show, but Winkleman also grabbed headlines as she fronted the runaway success that was Celebrity Traitors.
On Lifestyle, Great British Bake Off star Dame Prue Leith hit the runway for Vin and Omi’s London Fashion Week show and the fashion world mourned the death of Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani aged 91. On the beauty front, the Princess of Wales refreshed her signature look with a glowing honey balayage and singer Ellie Goulding made a statement pregnancy announcement at the Fashion Awards.
Come 2026 and there may be more reunion glee as the 30th anniversary of the Spice Girls looms and while nothing has been confirmed, fans are hopeful. Elsewhere, Ariana Grande, Olivia Dean, Bad Bunny and Metallica head to the UK for tours, while Reading and Leeds music festival has Charli XCX as a headliner. On the film front, three of the most-anticipated releases are Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Wuthering Heights and Toy Story 5, and there is already Oscar buzz around Jessie Buckley, Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothee Chalamet for their recent projects. On the travel front, expect Astro-tourism and nostalgic travel to be on the menu. Books to devour include Maggie O’Farrell’s Land, Asako Yuzuki’s Hooked and Alice Oseman’s final instalment of Heartstopper.
