Dragon Ball just subtly confirmed that the black sheep of the series, Dragon Ball Gt, is no longer canon to the anime’s official continuity. This has been a subject of heavy debate in the Db fandom for years, particularly after Dragon Ball Super seemingly retconned too much of Gt for them to coexist in the same timeline.
The debate about Dragon Ball Gt’s canonicity came to prominence again following Dragon Ball Daima’s conclusion in 2025, which reintroduced a new version of Super Saiyan 4 distinct from Gt’s.
