The New York Mets have kept themselves plenty busy so far over the offseason, and for good reason. With Pete Alonso and Edwin Diaz on the open market and signing elsewhere, the team pivoted, coming to terms with Devin Williams and Jorge Polanco.
They also struck deals with some late-inning depth, signing Luke Weaver, Luis Garcia, and Craig Kimbrel.
But the majority of their moves came from trades. They acquired Marcus Semien in a trade with the Texas Rangers, Freddy Peralta in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, and Luis Robert Jr. in a trade with the Chicago White Sox.
On top of all of that, they also signed Bo Bichette to a three-year, $126 million contract.

Despite making all of these moves, the Mets may not be done adding yet. They have some players, like Brett Baty, who have seemingly been blocked with the addition of Bo Bichette.
Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller suggests sending Baty to the Kansas City Royals in exchange for 2025 All-Star Kris Bubic.
“The Mets did finally upgrade their rotation in a big way with the acquisition of Freddy Peralta, but are they done? And are they actually planning to use Brett Baty in left field, or is he the ultimate expendable asset in a New York infield that would still be over-crowded even if you remove him from the equation? He could finally get everyday work if he gets shipped to the Royals.”
At the time of writing, it is believed that Brett Baty would get some work in the outfield, a position that he has limited experience in. Instead, the Mets could get an All-Star for a player whose role is not too certain.
This would be a straight-up trade, and it could greatly benefit both sides.
