The Duchess of Edinburgh brought the glitz and glamour to the premiere of King Charles‘s passion project film at Windsor Castle last night.

Sophie, 61, repurposed a striking, emerald green Galvan gown that she first wore for another film premiere in London six years ago.

She paired the £1,350, ankle-skimming satin dress, with a flattering high neckline, with black and gold stilettos that perfectly complemented her dainty jewellery.

The mother-of-two pinned a gold brooch to the gown and finished her look for the movie premiere of King Charles’s environmental documentary Finding Harmony with a pair of diamond bracelets and earrings.

She wore her hair in an elegant updo and kept her makeup looking soft and dewy as Sophie upped her style game for what was one of Windsor Castle’s most star-studded events in recent history.

While the Princess of Wales was not in attendance, Sophie easily charmed the King’s A-list guests arriving for Windsor Castle’s maiden film premiere.

The former PR executive was photographed having an animated chat with the film’s narrator, Oscar-winning Kate Winslet, who led the celebrity arrivals on Wednesday night.

As Sophie made her rounds, while supporting a cause deeply close to the King’s heart, she was spotted in conversation with stars like Stanley Tucci, Dame Judi Dench, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Other celebrity guests at Windsor Castle’s maiden film premiere included Sir Rod Stewart, who put on a very loved-up display with his wife Penny Lancaster.

Eagle-eyed royal fans will remember that Sophie – then the Countess of Wessex – first wore the gown when she attended the London premiere of childhood abuse drama Sulphur And White six years ago.

The castle’s Waterloo Chamber was transformed into an opulent cinema as the King unveiled Finding Harmony, a documentary that celebrates Charles’s philosophy and long-term commitment to sustainability.

In the 90-minute film, made in collaboration with his charity The King’s Foundation for Amazon MGM Studios, the monarch said the situation is ‘rapidly going backwards’ – with mankind ‘actually destroying our means to survival’.

But he expressed his hope that ‘by the time I shuffle off this mortal coil’ there might be more awareness of the ‘need to bring things back together again’.

In the film, Charles can be seen collecting eggs from chickens at the ‘Cluckingham Palace’ coop on his Highgrove estate, as he reveals his love of a crispy baked potato – declaring ‘red Duke of Yorks’ are the best variety.

The documentary describes how the King, as the Prince of Wales, emerged as a key figure on the environment over the years, making regular keynote speeches, despite ‘cries from some that he should take a back seat’, Winslet said.

The monarch, in new footage, added: ‘I just felt this was the approach that I was going to stick to. A course I set and I wasn’t going to be diverted from.’

Charles has remained focused on environmental activism for many decades, despite being treated ‘very unfairly’ after the then-Prince of Wales described how he talks to plants in an interview that left him ‘quite upset’.

Archive footage of the interview was included in the documentary as the now-King said: ‘I just come and talk to the plants, really – very important to talk to them, they respond.’

Ian Skelly, co-author of the King’s 2010 Harmony book, said: ‘Those criticisms really upset him. He got treated very unfairly, seen very unfairly, and those of us that knew him better were quite upset by that.

‘It was difficult to know how to respond, but I really felt for him.’

The Titanic actress, who was breathtaking in a one-shouldered, black sequinned dress, also recounted how Charles was ‘haunted’ by the interview that was aired in 1986.

The King’s estranged son, Prince Harry also makes a fleeting appearance in the documentary; archive footage showing Charles teaching the young royal how to fish on holiday at Balmoral.

The Prince of Wales also features, as a small child with Charles at Highgrove, and lies next to his father on the grass before visiting a herd of cows at Home Farm in 2004, when William was in his twenties.

Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, with the now Prince and Princess of Wales, are pictured briefly in footage from the King’s coronation.

And the late Queen Elizabeth II is shown filming a young Charles in archive footage of the future king in home movies.

The documentary explores the origins, evolution and scientific foundations of the King’s ‘harmony’ philosophy, which he set out in his 2010 book Harmony: A New Way Of Looking At Our World.

The book will be republished by HarperCollins in March to mark the release of the documentary.

Ahead of the premiere, a spokesperson for Buckingham Palace said Finding Harmony is unlike any other royal documentary.

‘There are no golden carriages here; no glittering crowns or crimson robes,’ the spokesperson added.

‘Instead, this is a deeply personal exploration of ideas that have shaped His Majesty’s life and work: the interconnectedness of all things, the wisdom of traditional knowledge, and the belief that we can build a future that works in partnership with nature rather than against it.’

The spokesperson added that it ‘sets a new high watermark for royal documentaries’.

After its glitzy premiere, the film – produced by Amazon – will be released on Prime Video in over 240 countries across the world on February 6.
