The Seattle Art Museum and the Seattle Asian Art Museum are closed Friday due to “higher than anticipated staff shortages,” the museum said on its Instagram page.
The museum said its facilities had planned to be open and “free to the public today as a space for community gathering,” but the staff shortages made it unable to safely open its locations.
The closure comes amid a “National Shutdown” in protest of the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown in Minnesota. Dozens of Seattle-area shops and restaurants shuttered their doors or are donating proceeds Friday.
