Blackpink just wrapped their Deadline World Tour and are weeks away from releasing their highly anticipated mini album Deadline. But the full group won’t be at the Grammys tonight—and Lisa explained the reason behind her absence weeks ago at the Golden Globes. (Her bandmate Rosé’s song “APT.” is nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.)
After posing for the Glambot, Lisa was interviewed and asked whether she would be at the Grammys this year. She said no, explaining, “I have a movie shoot, so I can’t be there.” Lisa is starring in Netflix’s upcoming film Tygo, which will be shooting in South Korea.
When the news was announced, she told Netflix’s Tudum, “I’m so honored to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors [co-stars Don Lee and Lee Jin-uk]. Being in an action film has always been a dream of mine, and for my first movie role to be in such an exciting action film is a dream come true.”
Lisa made her acting debut in the third season of The White Lotus. In September, the star told AnOther magazine, “I’d love to do some more acting. It’s a world I’d like to learn more about.”
When asked about moments that stood out while filming The White Lotus, she said, “There were a lot of memorable moments, starting when I sent in my audition tape. That was funny. It was just me and my team filming in a hotel room. Then I flew to Thailand to meet up with [creator] Mike White and we had a great initial conversation. Mike is really open-minded. While we were shooting, he was super-open to me trying out different things. He let Tayme [Thapthimthong], my co-star, and I do whatever we wanted to do, then if he wanted us to fix something, he’d just tell us how. The cast were great. They’re all big stars. It was a great experience to work with them. We had a lot of fun together.”
