Grammy’s host Trevor Noah made a joke about President Donald Trump’s deep desire to take over Greenland during Sunday’s awards show.
While congratulating Billie Eilish for her Song of the Year win, the former host of the “Daily Show” said, “Wow. That’s a Grammy that every artist wants, almost as much as Trump wants Greenland.”
Further dunking on Trump over his ties to the late, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, Noah said that it all “makes sense because since Epstein’s gone, he needs a new island to hang out with Bill Clinton.”
The quip seemed to wink at emails from Epstein’s brother that mention photos of “Trump blowing Bubba,” a known nickname of Clinton’s. The idea of an illicit encounter between the presidents seems to hinge on salacious conjecture and little more, however.
While court documents, photos and flight logs link both Trump and Clinton to Epstein, there is no substantive evidence showing either ever visited the late sex offender’s private island, Little St. James, as well.
“WRONG!!! I can’t speak for Bill, but I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media,” Trump wrote. “Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast. It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$. Ask Little George Slopadopolus, and others, how that all worked out. Also ask CBS! Get ready Noah, I’m going to have some fun with you! President DJT.”
Although Trump has long tried to downplay his relationship with Epstein, his name was referenced thousands of times in Justice Department documents tied to criminal investigations of Epstein. On Friday, a massive release of Epstein-related files contained some of the most disturbing allegations against Trump to date, claims which the Justice Department described as “untrue and sensationalist” in a preemptive statement released on Tuesday.
When reporters on Air Force One asked about the latest disclosures on Saturday, Trump vowed that “some very important people” had told him the document dump cleared his name.
“Not only does it absolve me, it’s the opposite of what people were hoping, you know, the radical left,” Trump said.
