Ryan Tubridy answers questions ‘no one else dared to ask’ in ‘fearless’ interview

The TV and radio presenter is the final celebrity to be grilled by a panel of autistic and neurodivergent reporters in the finale of Virgin Media’s The Assembly Ireland

Ryan Tubridy has been asked questions “no one else dares to” in a “fearless and revealing interview” due to be aired on Virgin Media next week.

The former RTÉ presenter signed up to The Assembly Ireland, marking his first TV appearance in Ireland since the RTÉ payment scandal broke in 2023.

Ryan is the final person to be interviewed by The Assembly – a group of autistic and neurodivergent reporters – when the Virgin Media series concludes on Monday, February 9th, at 9pm.

He follows Taoiseach Micheál Martin, comedian Joanne McNally and American talk show host Rosie O’Donnell, each of whom were grilled by The Assembly with no topic off limits.

A Virgin Media spokesperson told RSVP Live: “Virgin Media Television’s ground breaking new series The Assembly Ireland concludes on Monday, 9 February at 9pm, on Virgin Media PLAY and Virgin Media One with a fearless and revealing interview featuring Irish TV and radio personality, Ryan Tubridy.”

They added Ryan will be asked “the questions no one else dares, and no question is too taboo.”

The spokesperson continued: “Ryan Tubridy faces questions about his dating life, the RTÉ payment scandal, his favourite Late Late Show guests, his salary, his time hosting The Toy Show and his soul. He is even asked: if he had a magic button, what would he change about his past?”

The episode will end on a high note with Rebecca performing ‘The Greatest Show’, followed by Ryan joining Kevin for a moving rendition of ‘That’s Life’ – a fitting finale to conclude this epic new Irish format.

This will be Ryan’s first TV interview since leaving RTÉ in 2023 following a summer of scandals for the national broadcaster.

The ex Late Late Show host is now back living in Dublin following two years spent working at Virgin Radio in London.

He has made the move from the airwaves to YouTube, hosting a new series for Times Radio and TalkSport, and also hosts a weekend radio show on Onic stations in Ireland.

Ryan also hosts the popular podcast, The Book Shelf.

But he wouldn’t rule out a return to RTÉ if the right opportunity came up.

“I wouldn’t burn any bridges anywhere,” Tubs told the RTÉ Guide. “In recent times, I was asked to do a few TV things for RTÉ, independent commissions, but they weren’t the right project or the right time.”
