Black Keys debut new single slate May release for next album

These dudes from Akron – Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney – rock out and they are indeed prolific.

The Black Keys took to Instagram to announce the debut of a new tune ahead of the release of “Peaches!,” the band’s newest album.

“Peaches!” was recorded in 2025 as Auerbach dealt with his father Chuck Auerbach’s declining health. Chuck Auerbach, a musician an art collector who helped the Keys get their name, died last March due to complications with esophageal cancer.

“We weren’t making a record. We were just jamming, like this is for us,” Dan Auerbach said in a press release. “Really primal, in a moment when all the nerves were raw, just kinda screaming. We were going through a lot, trying to lift our spirits. I think my dad getting sick made me not give a f*** and just wanna scream for a bit.”

“You Got to Lose,” is the latest song from the Keys. It’s a cover of an Earl Hooker song played by many musicians, including George Thorogood. The song is a country blues-tinged banger featuring slide guitarist Kenny Brown, who’s known for skills in North Mississippi Hills blues style.

Brown played with the band on the 2021 album “Delta Kream” and he learned from guitarist R.L. Burnside — long one of Dan Auerbach guitar heroes.

“Peaches!” will be the Keys’ third album in 25 months upon its May 1 release, continuing their penchant for being prolific when getting new music out.

They released their last album “No Rain, No Flowers” in August of last year with the song “Man on a Mission” showing up across various media, including being used as an anthem for TNT’s coverage of the MLB playoffs.

It’s yet to be determined what the album’s title signifies, but locally, Peaches Records and Tapes, was a prominent retailer in the Northeast Ohio in the 1970s.

However, the album’s cover is a well-known image from famous photographer William Eggleston, who also allowed the band to use another for the album “Delta Kream.” Like The Keys, Eggleston resides in Memphis, Tenn.
