The first alleged ransom note deadline in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case expired Thursday with no communication from her alleged abductors, as concerns mount as to the whereabouts of the 84-year-old grandmother.
The letter demanded millions of dollars in Bitcoin in exchange for Nancy Guthrie’s safe return.
FBI officials confirmed the first deadline on Thursday and revealed that a second deadline is set for Monday, Febuary 9.
Savannah Guthrie, 54, host of NBC’s TODAY show, posted a video of her brother Camron Guthrie, 61, a veteran, addressing whoever may be holding their mother.
“Whoever’s out there holding our mother, we want to hear from you,” Camron Guthrie said in the video.
“We haven’t heard anything directly. We need you to reach out, and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward.”
On Wednesday, Savannah Guthrie had posted an emotional video alongside her siblings, sister Annie and brother Camron.
“We, too, have heard reports about a ransom letter in the media,” Savannah Guthrie said through tears in the Feb. 4 video.
“As a family, we are doing everything that we can. We are ready to talk.”
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on Sunday, February 1.
Investigators discovered blood outside her home on Tuesday, Febuary 3.
In her Wednesday statement, Savannah Guthrie declared that she and her siblings “wouldn’t rest” until their mother returned home safely.
Pima County’s Chief of Detectives Fabian Pacheco told NewsNation on Thursday that they have gotten “upwards of 200 tips.”
“And just to put it in perspective, on a normal day, we receive maybe 12, 20 tips on several unrelated cases. The past four days, this has spiked to 200 tips and more and counting,” Pacheco said.
“We continue to encourage the public to please continue sending us those tips.”
President Donald Trump took to TruthSocial on Wednesday, writing, “I spoke with Savannah Guthrie, and let her know that I am directing ALL Federal Law Enforcement to be at the family’s, and Local Law Enforcement’s, complete disposal, IMMEDIATELY. We are deploying all resources to get her mother home safely. The prayers of our Nation are with her and her family. GOD BLESS AND PROTECT NANCY!”
