Peyton Manning is one of the most famous names in NFL history with an incredible history in football.
He was the number one overall NFL ’98 draft pick, a two-time Super Bowl champion, and five-time MVP before he retired from the NFL in 2016, following 18 seasons as quarterback, having played for the Indianapolis Colts, followed by the Denver Broncos. He earned an estimated $250 million as a player.
However, since his career on the field ended he has found a new career with his sportscasting media brand Omaha Productions. Launched in 2020, the firm has very rapidly grown into a major media force valued at over $750 million.
The company has seen a string of lucrative deals and shows propel Peyton, 49, to a whole new level of success.
He previously told Axios of the business, “This is a second chapter for me. I never had a plan for what I wanted to do after I finished playing because I never had time to think about it. I was just thinking about football.”
The firm has been responsible for an array of shows for ESPN+, including Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli, which won an Emmy. It is not uncommon for former NFL stars to move into broadcasting when they retire, but Peyton’s bold move to start his own production company from scratch was unique and revolutionary among his peers.
Neil Zender, showrunner of Peyton’s Places, told the New York Post in 2022, “What is unique about Peyton is that instead of doing what everyone has done and what you are supposed to do as a great quarterback when you retire, he has been an individual and has done what is fun for him and makes him happy.”
Meanwhile, his success with the business has been attributed to the sportsman’s dedication to succeeding. His father Archie told The Post, “He has to be all in. That’s the way he’s always been.”
Peyton’s brother, Eli, has also spoken on has how committed his brother is to Omaha Productions. He told Market Watch, “He’s done a great job building a lot of new content through it. I think he’s having fun along the way.”
Having fun has been at the forefront of Peyton’s business model, especially in his and Eli’s popular Manningcast. He explained to Axios, “The second-and-one running play that nobody really cares about, let’s not analyze that. Let’s talk to [our guest] instead. I mean, that’s how I watch football with friends and family…just sort of having conversations.”
