Father Brown is back and stars from Last Tango in Halifax, Emmerdale and the Avengers franchise is joining its cast.
Father Brown season 13 is back with its upcoming episode featuring talent ranging from a beloved children’s television personality of the noughties to a stalwart of Emmerdale.
Father Brown returned triumphantly to BBC One last month and has continued to deliver compelling drama, with its principal cast members including Mark Williams, Nancy Carroll and Tom Chambers stepping back into their memorable characters.
In the fifth episode of series 13, Father Brown (portrayed by Mark Williams) will once again find himself embroiled in a “deadly game of cat and mouse”, and true to the episode’s name, his arch-rival Vincent Lazarus (Lex Shrapnel) makes his anticipated reappearance.

Criminal mastermind Hercule Flambeau typically surfaces only occasionally throughout each series, and episode five marks his moment in the spotlight for 2026.
Hercule arrives unexpectedly to alert Father Brown that Lazarus has resumed his villainous activities.
Whilst actor John Light features semi-regularly in Father Brown, his credits extend to numerous prominent productions including Holby City, Inspector Lewis, Around the World in 80 Days and Showtrial.

Canon Fox – Roger May
Making a return to Kembleford is actor Roger May, perhaps best recognised for his portrayal of Oliver Clarke in the medical drama Doctors across nine years.
He reprises his role as priest Canon Fox, though he’s often known for clashing with Father Brown – what will spark tension between them this time?
Monsignor Russo – Tony Gardner

Monsignor Russo serves as Father Brown’s superior and remains nearby when the latter is tasked with locating the sacred statue.
The character is portrayed by actor Tony Gardner, who rose to prominence in late 1999 playing Brian Johnson in the children’s series My Parents Are Aliens.

Mary Jackson – Madison Clare
Completing the ensemble of guest stars is Mary Jackson, whom Father Brown encounters at Lady Veronica’s charitable gathering.
The character is portrayed by actress Madison Clare, who has previously taken on smaller parts in Holby City and Grantchester.
