Meet Devyn Dalton, Matt Damon’s 4ft 6 inch female stunt double in The Odyssey

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is already one of the biggest movies of 2026. The film, which premiered worldwide on July 6, raked in US$264 million during its opening weekend, per The Guardian.

Starring Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o and more, the movie is an adaptation of Homer’s nearly 3,000-year-old epic The Odyssey, which details King Odysseus’ (played by Damon) long and perilous journey back home to Ithaca after the Greeks’ victory in the Trojan War.

While the movie’s cast list may be a who’s who of Hollywood A-listers, it is Devyn Dalton, a stunt double in the film, who seems to have the internet’s attention.

While appearing on an episode of Happy Sad Confused podcast, Damon revealed that one of his stunt doubles in the movie, which he described as the “hardest” and most “challenging” project he had ever done, is a woman.

“My double was a woman, a female stunt performer who had the greatest arms I’ve ever seen,” Damon said, explaining that she appears in the shots where the Laestrygonians, a race of man-eating giants, are seen looming over Odysseus. The scene is even used as one of the film’s posters. In the scenes, Dalton, who is 4ft 6 inches (137cm) in height, stood in for Damon and faced off with 7ft-tall stunt performers, which allowed Nolan to use practical effects instead of CGI.
