While Hollywood feuds aren’t exactly a foreign concept, having a feud with a pop star and a Sesame Street character is a new one. That’s right, in 2026, we have Elmo beefing with Taylor Swift; and for, honestly, a hilarious reason.
In case you missed it, Taylor Swift released her long-awaited music video for her hit song, “Opalite,” which was the second track on her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl. In the music video released on Feb 2, Swift plays the Lonely Girl whose best friend is a rock; and Elmo wasn’t a fan of this.
In fact, Elmo posted on X, the app formerly known as Twitter, saying: “Ms. Taylor Swift. You have got to be kidding Elmo.”
For those totally confused, we got you. Elmo isn’t exactly mad at Swift; he’s upset that her best friend is a rock, and she put a friendship bracelet around it. Elmo has a longstanding feud with his buddy on Sesame Street, Zoe’s best friend, who is a rock named Rocco.

If you go online, chances are you’ll see so many clips of Elmo beefing with Rocco, continually saying that Rocco isn’t a real person, he is a rock. It’s honestly a hilarious bit that has made both children and adults laugh for years. And turns out, fans are on Elmo’s side!
One fan wrote, “Rocco in a Taylor Swift music video before Elmo just feels wrong!” And another added, “It’s okay Elmo, she said the rock was garbage in the end. She’s on your side!!”
