Taylor Swift released her latest music video on Friday for her song “Opalite.”
The music video released exclusively on Spotify and Apple Music, and it stars the same group of celebrities featured alongside Swift during her appearance on “The Graham Norton Show” last October.
Swift said in an Instagram post that the idea for the “Opalite” music video “crash landed into (her) imagination” while promoting her album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on the UK late night show.
“When we were all talking during the broadcast, Domhnall (Gleeson) made a light hearted joke about wanting to be in one of my music videos,” Swift said in the caption of her post. “In that moment during the interview, I was instantly struck with an idea. And so a week later he received an email script I’d written for the Opalite video, where he was playing the starring role.”
In the 1990s-themed music video, Swift stars as a “lonely woman” who seeks companionship from a rock and Gleeson stars as a “lonely man” whose companion is a cactus, until a spray of a fictional chemical potion called “Opalite” brings Swift and Gleeson together.
Swift said in her post that she thought it would be “wild” if the other guests featured in their episode — Cillian Murphy, Lewis Capaldi, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner-Smith and Norton himself — also appeared in the music video.
“To my delight, everyone from the show made the effort to time travel back to the ’90s with us and help with this video,” Swift said in her post.
The music video is currently only available on Apple Music and Spotify. The “Opalite” music video will release on YouTube on Sunday at 8 a.m. ET.
