Bad Bunny

Celebrities are sharing their thoughts on Bad Bunny’s 2026 Super Bowl halftime performance.

The Puerto Rican rapper and singer hit the big stage (aka the NFL field) on Sunday night, where he performed several of his hits, shared the spotlight with Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin and ended with two powerful messages: “The only thing more powerful than hate is love” and “Together, We Are America.”

Following his 13-minute set, reviews began pouring in, with public figures utilizing social media to weigh in on the Grammy Award winner’s landmark performance.

Fellow Grammy-winning artist Kacey Musgraves took to X, where she wrote, “Well. That made me feel more proudly American than anything Kid Rock has ever done.” Her post was in response to Turning Point USA’s alternative halftime show, where Kid Rock served as headliner.

John Mellencamp took to X on Sunday night, where he posted a statement that read, “I don’t know what Bad Bunny is saying, however, I do know he is standing up for Puerto Rico and I am standing up for him. His half time show was great.”

In contrast, Jake Paul shared distaste with Bad Bunny’s halftime show, writing on X that he was “Purposefully turning off the halftime show.”

“Let’s rally together and show big corporations they can’t just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them),” the influencer continued. “You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that.”

President Donald Trump echoed Paul’s sentiments, taking to Truth Social to call Bad Bunny’s halftime show “absolutely terrible” and “disgusting.” Trump added, “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World.”

However, Scandal actress Kerry Washington argued of his show on Threads, “that performance was the epitome of LOVE.” She continued, “And a wise man once said ‘the only thing more powerful than hate is LOVE.’”

“I don’t know if I’ll ever recover from that…” Washington wrote in a separate post.

Jimmy Fallon shared a photo of himself, seemingly a recreation of an iconic Bad Bunny look where he wears a straw hat, writing the title of his Grammy Award-winning album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS.

Elmo (yes, Elmo) called Bad Bunny’s set “AMAZING.” He continued, “That Bunny was AMAZING. Elmo thinks he should be called Good Bunny! Elmo loves you, Mr. Good Bunny!”

California Gov. Gavin Newsom wrote, “America, the beautiful. THANK YOU, BAD BUNNY,” while former NFL player JJ Watt added, “Did I understand a single word of it? I did not. Was it a vibe? It was.”

Before the 2026 Super Bowl, Jennifer Lopez, a fellow former headliner herself, wished Bad Bunny good luck on X.

“Bad Bunny…sending you all the love, positivity and the biggest hug in the world,” she wrote Sunday. “We are all with you tonight! I know you’re gonna crush it. I’m here with you the same way you were there for me. So proud to be Boricua! Dale fuerte Benito. The way only you can do it! #LatinoGangGang.”
