Kid Rock fans are just now learning about the singer’s wealthy upbringing in Michigan.
The All Summer Long singer, 55, is back in the spotlight after his headlining performance at Turning Point USA’s “All-American” Super Bowl halftime show. With the heightened attention, fans have learned more about his rise to fame, which began in Romeo, Michigan.
Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, grew up on a large estate with a four-bedroom, four-bath, neo-Georgian colonial house. The $1.3 million home also included an apple orchard and barn, where his family housed their show horses. As a child, Rock helped pick apples from the orchard and fed and cared for the family’s horses.
His father, William Bill Ritchie, also owned multiple car dealerships.
At the young age of 11, he began moving away from his conventional lifestyle, joining a breakdancing crew called the Furious Funkers. During his high school years, he split his time between the group and DJing at parties, which is when the name Kid Rock arose.
According to Loud Wire, club goers began attending his sets and enjoyed watching “that white kid rock.” Ritchie embraced the label just before releasing his debut album, Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast, in 1990.
It’s been 10 years since Ritchie initially endorsed President Donald Trump.
He has offered his help in both of his presidential campaigns, selling Trump-themed merchandise and performing at the 2024 Republican National Convention.
His alliance to the Republican party has deepened over the past few months, with his performance at Turning Point USA’s “All-American Halftime Show,” which was announced after several right-wingers slammed the NFL’s decision to have Bad Bunny as the headliner for the Apple Music Super Bowl LX halftime show.
Sharing his thoughts on the Puerto Rican singer’s performance on Fox News, he said, “I didn’t understand any of it… Not my cup of tea.”
He then placed blame on the NFL for “for putting him in that position and Turning Point for having to come out and have an alternative for people to watch. Poor kid… Poor rich kid.”
