Love Island All Stars’ Jessy Potts opened up about her relationship with TOWIE star Joey Essex
Love Island All Stars’ Jessy Potts has candidly discussed her break-up with reality TV personality Joey Essex, following her recent entry into the villa.
The 27-year-old made quite the entrance during last night’s heart rate challenge (February 9) on ITV2, where she planted kisses on Tommy and Scott’s lips and pecked the other lads on their necks. Tonight’s episode revealed that her black lace outfit had set several of the boys’ hearts racing, causing a stir among the girls.
As Jessy started to mingle with her fellow villa dwellers, Zac from Love Island USA was the first she chose for a private chat. She led him to the terrace, with his partner Millie looking on, and confessed: “I love an American.”
During their conversation, she shared details about her past relationship with The Only Way Is Essex star, Joey, who was the first-ever celebrity bombshell in the eleventh series of Love Island.
Jessy joined the villa later in the season and was given the choice to poach one of the boys. She selected Joey and the two remained a couple until they were both voted off the show by their fellow Islanders, reports OK!
However, two months after their departure from the 2024 summer series, the pair decided to go their separate ways. Jessy released a statement at the time, saying: “I appreciate the Love Island experience I had with Joey, we tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be. I’m so grateful to everyone who supported us and look forward to all of the exciting opportunities ahead.”
Joey also shared his thoughts, stating: “Unfortunately, we have decided to call an end to the relationship but I hope we can continue to be friends. I truly wish Jessy the very best with whatever she does in the future.”
Jessy has since provided further insight into what led to their break-up, revealing to Zac that they were simply “different people”.
After Zac apologised for not having watched her season, Jessy clarified: “Mine was a couple of years ago but I had quite an easy journey. I basically got in there, got in one couple and stayed in it the whole time.”
When Zac queried, “Why did it end?”, Jessy confessed: “It only lasted about a couple of months afterwards. It was just we’re definitely different people. So then you leave here and it’s like ‘Oh s***’. It’s a lot.”
She added: “He’d done TV before so he already had a lot of people that had opinions about him anyway. It just wasn’t for me but that’s ok.”
