Prince Harry is still on the outs with his brother Prince William after a rift that has not healed over the years, but that doesn’t mean the Duke of Sussex doesn’t have a plan to eventually reunite with his brother before he assumes the throne and becomes King.
Harry, 41, and William, 43, have had a tense relationship for years, with the cracks widening after Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle stepped away from their role as working royals in 2020, and Harry spilled several family secrets in his 2023 memoir, Spare.
However, Harry has been determined to “bury the hatchet” with both his brother and his father, King Charles, with the latter seemingly accepting a small olive branch with a short meeting with his son in 2025.
Now, the younger royal is reportedly adopting a new “battle plan” in his attempts to reconcile with his brother.
According to Radar Online, Harry has been mapping out a “carefully timed diplomacy mission and battle plan” to ease their feud, and is set to coincide with next year’s Invictus Games in Birmingham, UK, which would be the first real opportunity for the brothers to have a public reunion between the two since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.
“It feels like Harry is testing the waters for peace. The Invictus Games in Birmingham is set to be key as his olive branch moment–something symbolic but safe, under the banner of a cause everyone can support,” a source told the website.
“The memory of that first Games in 2014 still lingers, with Charles, Camilla, and William all there, proud and unified. If they chose to appear together again, it wouldn’t just be a family photo opportunity–it would signal to the world that the royals are finally ready to move past the fractures of the last few years.”
However, while Harry is reportedly eager to mend their rift, William is still reticent.
“So far there’s no real indication that William wants to reopen that door,” the source said.
“He’s deeply protective of his family and feels that too much damage was done in public for things to simply be smoothed over. It’s not about stubbornness so much as caution–he doesn’t want another round of emotional fallout played out in front of the cameras.”
“For now, his position seems to be to wait and see rather than rush into anything.”
