The Kansas City Royals have been dealing with injuries throughout the season, and things aren’t getting any better with the latest news to come out of their game against the Minnesota Twins. Bobby Witt Jr. suffered a right knee injury and had to leave the game, according to the team.

“Bobby Witt Jr. exited today’s game with right knee soreness,” the Royals wrote.
Witt was lifted at the bottom of the seventh inning, and Maikel Garcia moved over to shortstop. It didn’t look as if there was one specific play where Witt may have injured himself, so it’s uncertain what the cause of the injury is.
Just a few weeks ago, Witt spoke about how his preparation for the game is always evolving, which has led him to play at a high level every season.
“And I think that that’s what a lot of guys don’t understand. I don’t even really get it sometimes,” Witt said. “You just had two really good games, you did the exact same thing, and then you just fell off. But your body’s always changing. Your body feels different. You’re playing so many different games. And so it’s just, how can you get yourself ready for whatever time the game is? And some things sometimes it has to change, whether it’s your prep work, your cage routine, your whatever it is. And so that’s what makes baseball so much fun.”

Hopefully, in this case, Witt’s injury isn’t serious, and he can find a way to get back on the field sooner rather than later. That also might be the best case for the Royals at the moment, who are currently 27-39 and are at the bottom of the AL Central.
