The Gallo Center for the Arts in Modesto will welcome Grammy-winning singer Joss Stone to its stage. A family “Peppa Pig” show also will play at the venue. These are two of several entertainment options coming up Feb. 14-20 in the Modesto region.
Joss Stone
Grammy-winning artist Joss Stone will bring her “The Less is More” tour to the Gallo Center. Stone was 16 years old when she released her debut album, “The Soul Sessions,” in 2003. She has performed and collaborated with artists including James Brown, Burt Bacharach, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Sting, Van Morrison, Melissa Etheridge, Jeff Beck and Mick Jagger. Her Grammy win was in 2006 for best R&B performance by a duo or group with vocals for “Family Affair” (Sly and the Family Stone) with John Legend and Van Hunt.

Peppa Pig
Peppa Pig, along with Mummy Pig, Daddy Pig and George, star in “Peppa Pig: My First Concert,” an interactive introduction to a live orchestra for ages 2 and older. The production coming to the Gallo Center finds Peppa and George learning about the different sounds that musical instruments make.

Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra
Ottmar Liebert & Luna Negra will bring world music to the Gallo Center. Guitarist Liebert found global success through “his creative vision, his determination and a strong sense of melody,” the center’s website says. He performs a mix of Spanish, Mexican and world music. He founded the first incarnation of his band Luna Negra in 1989. Limited tickets were available.

Valentine concert and tea
Congregation Beth Shalom presents its 24th annual Valentine Concert and Dessert Tea, featuring Modesto’s musical duo Roy Stevens and Annalisa Winberg. Professional opera singers, the couple now helm Opera Modesto. They will join with professional musical artists from the company’s upcoming production of “Cinderella” for this concert. There will be tea and baked items served.

Almond Blossom Festival
The Ripon Almond Blossom Festival annually heralds spring in the region. The celebration features a carnival, vendor booths and more. A parade will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday in downtown Ripon.

A Valentine’s Day evening of music brings the hits of Billy Joel to the State Theatre with Billy Nation: A Tribute To Billy Joel. “This show thrills audiences with a high-energy authentic concert experience of three decades of Billy Joel’s hits,” according to theater’s website. Adam Shapiro performs Joel’s songs along with his six-piece band.

Comedy at the State
MoRo Comedy Night featuring Josh Sneed brings a night of clean comedy to the State Theatre. Sneed has appeared on Comedy Central, including his own comedy special. All proceeds from ticket sales benefit Modesto Rotary Club and its programs that support the community.

Youth symphony
The Modesto Symphony Youth Orchestra’s spring concert will be held at the Gallo Center. MSYO serves musicians from more than 40 public and private schools in the Central Valley. As a program within the Modesto Symphony Orchestra Association, members gain experience by interacting with professional musicians, conductors, and visiting guest artists.

Modesto Film Society
