The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared a black-and-white photograph of themselves to mark Valentine’s Day.
Posted online, it shows them nestling close together outdoors and is accompanied by the simple message “happy Valentine’s Day” and a pink heart emoji.
The previously unseen image was taken near Anmer Hall, their Norfolk home, last April, by Josh Shinner, the royal couple’s favoured photographer.
It is the second time in two years they have marked Valentine’s Day on social media. On Feb 14, 2025, they shared a photograph in which they kissed and held hands on a picnic blanket in woodland.
That image was taken from an unusually personal video released by Kensington Palace in September 2024 when the Princess announced she had finished her chemotherapy treatment. She later confirmed she was in remission from cancer.
The Princess has said that her illness changed her perspective on life and has stressed the importance of love and connection, as well as the inspiration and strength she finds in nature.
The couple have since shared more intimate, personal messages on social media, with Prince William last year publishing a loving message to mark his wife’s birthday, calling her the “most incredible wife and mother”, adding: “We love you.”
Similar messages were released to mark the Prince’s birthday and Father’s Day, alongside family photographs to mark occasional milestones.
