The search for Nancy Guthrie is entering its third week, with investigators still yet to name a suspect in the case.
With proof of life yet to be established, crime expert Robynne Jeisman has spoken to The Express US about the “serious red flags” in the case.
“It’s very worrying. In most ransom cases, proof of life is usually provided early to maintain leverage,” Robynne, founder of Turntable, a non-profit organisation working in anti-human trafficking and gang violence prevention, shared.
She added, “When it’s missing, it raises serious red flags about the situation bring more unstable than it appears. It has to be treated with urgency and caution.
“The lack of proof of life after 13 days, definitely shows a high-level seriousness to the matter.”
Robynne also shared her thoughts on the type of person who would have been able to carry off this type of kidnapping. “Disappearances like this definitely involve high level planning, surveillance, and coordination,” she explained.
The expert added, “This kind of high level operation where they can make someone basically vanish rely on intricate strategic planning and vast networks that move quickly and leave minimal evidence, especially in that critical early window before alarms are raised.”
Robynne’s comments come as Nancy’s daughter Savannah has issued a new statement on the case. Taking to Instagram, Savannah begged her mom’s kidnappers to “bring her home” as she insisted, “It’s never too late to do the next right thing.”
Savannah also said her family members “still have hope” they will find Nancy.
“It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken,” the Today show host said in the video, which was posted on February 15. “And I just wanted to come on and say that we still have hope. And we still believe.”
Savannah continued, “I wanted to say to whoever has her or knows where she is that it’s never too late. And you’re not lost or alone. And it is never too late to do the right thing.
“And we are here and we believe. And we believe in the essential goodness of every human being. And it’s never too late.”
