The FBI believes a glove found near Nancy Guthrie’s home could hold the DNA of the man who tampered with her doorbell camera before she disappeared.
According to reports, FBI agents are allegedly now awaiting official confirmation before they expand their forensic analysis and compare the DNA’s genetic profile against federal databases used to identify criminal suspects across the United States.
The glove at the center of the investigation was found in a roadside field two miles from Nancy Guthrie’s Tucson, Arizona, home. The area was sealed off by investigators, with the item being one of 16 gloves found near the property.
Investigators are hoping the glove could provide the missing link, as DNA not belonging to Nancy or her loved ones was found at her property, so there is hope the item could match that sample.
Additionally, police have discovered that the 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack worn by the individual in the video was bought from Walmart.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos also said that his team is working directly with Walmart management to hopefully identify the person through purchase records or surveillance footage. It is also believed that the other items of clothing worn by the man could have been purchased from Walmart, although these items could also have been bought elsewhere.
In its full statement, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said, “To be clear … the Guthrie family – to include all siblings and spouses – has been cleared as possible suspects in this case. The family has been nothing but cooperative and gracious, and are victims in this case. To suggest otherwise is not only wrong, it is cruel. The Guthrie family are victims plain and simple.”
This statement coincides with the fact that Nancy Guthrie has been missing for more than two weeks, with her daughter Savannah pleading once again with her mother’s captor.
In a video on Sunday, the Today Show host begged, “I wanted to say to whoever has her, or who knows where she is, that it’s never too late. And you’re not lost, or alone, and it is never too late to do the right thing.”
However, despite this plea, authorities are not believed to have received any proof of life from Nancy’s captors, and the investigation remains ongoing.
