The Dallas Symphony Orchestra plays at the Meyerson Symphony Center.

We love live music of all varieties. To us, the garage show in Denton is just as good as the laser-beam-laden productions at the American Airlines Center. In fact, we may even prefer the $10 concerts with less-than-classically-trained musicians hootin’ and hollerin’ at a dive. Despite what the cranky commenters might say, too-cool snobs we are not.

So take it from us: when we saw the newly released schedule for the 2026-2027 concert season of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO), our ears perked.

Of course, the season features classical music. It simply wouldn’t be a symphony without Mozart, Beethoven, Bach and the deeper cuts of composers. But it wouldn’t be the DSO without special programming featuring full-orchestra renditions of modern hits.

This season, some of the more exciting productions include yacht rock classics in April. What could possibly make the ballads of Hall & Oates better? The French horn. Rarely do middle-aged men subtly dance and a full string ensemble meet, but when said strings are playing Jimmy Buffett, their heads begin to bob.

In January 2027, the pop hits of ‘90s female icons will be performed at the Meyerson Symphony Center. Spice up “Wannabe” with the harp.

“My goal is to make listeners both happy and curious,” said music director Fabio Luisi release for the lineup. “I hope they are deeply moved by the great works of the classical canon that we will perform, while also remaining open to new music from all styles and eras.”

Other highlights of the year include a performance from Broadway legend Idina Menzel at the 2026 Symphony Gala in September, a one-night performance from world-renowned cellist and once child prodigy Yo-Yo Ma and the continuation of the DSO’s movies in concert series. The coming season will have live accompaniments to Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Hocus Pocus, Up and Barbie: The Movie.

We just thought you should know. The full calendar is available now on the DSO’s website.
