Tomahawk’s long awaited reunion tour has finally been locked in, with the Mike Patton led supergroup announcing their first US run in 13 years.
Before anyone starts dreaming about a new Tomahawk record though, the band have made one thing painfully clear, this is strictly a live victory lap.
The cult outfit, featuring Duane Denison, Mike Patton, John Stanier and Trevor Dunn, will hit the road across the US from July 18th in Nashville through to August 15th in Los Angeles, sharing the stage exclusively with the Melvins. Just two heavyweight acts doing what they do best with no rotating supports or VIP fluff (per Metal Sucks).
If you were hoping this reunion meant fresh material, Tomahawk have already poured cold water on that idea.
Addressing fan speculation directly, the band wrote:
“We tried to keep tickets as affordable as possible for these shows. We know horrible fees get added as well. Sharing the stage with the Melvins makes this an even better deal. There will not be any other band on the bill.
“To answer some of the questions we are getting, we will not be adding more cities to this run… There is no new music planned. No meet and greets or any of that special package stuff. Oh and we are not taking song requests, that’s not how concerts work.
“We are all busy with other things and not as young as we used to be so we crammed as many dates into the period that we were all available. Our booking agent solicits offers and routes the dates based on the offers received. Believe it or not we don’t get offers from EVERY city.
“As of this very moment, we do not have any other touring plans in 2026. However, we are in constant contact with our agents and working on our individual schedules to see if there is interest and we might have time to visit more of you, in other countries, in 2027. Stay tuned. Thank you for welcoming us back!”
It’s refreshingly blunt, with no dangling promises or vague ‘maybe soon’ studio teases.
What It Means For Australian Fans
For now, this is a tightly contained US run, the mention of possible international dates in 2027 is the only flicker of hope for Australian fans.
Given Patton’s packed schedule across multiple projects, Tomahawk operating as a limited live entity makes sense. If new music ever comes, it won’t be because fans willed it into existence. For now, this reunion is about the stage, not the studio.
