Last night’s episode of “Matlock” finally pointed the finger at Jason Ritter’s increasingly compromised corporate lawyer. In Season 2, Episode 9, “Collateral,” Julian Markston (Ritter) was let in on the explosive true identity of his colleague. Not the formidable Matty Matlock, but the shrewd Madeline Kingston (Kathy Bates) — i.e., the mother of a girl lost to the opioid epidemic, Julian and his father, Senior (Beau Bridges), helped clients cover up. Julian also learns his ex-wife Olympia Lawrence (Skye P. Marshall) has been working with Madeline to investigate his role in their law firm’s misdeeds all season.
