One of the longest awards seasons in history — we’re talking all the way back to Sundance 2025 here —concludes in two weeks with the 98th Academy Awards. Tonight, though, marks the 32nd Screen Actors Guild Awards, which are now called the Actor Awards in their first iteration under that name. Here we see the guild’s favorite American and British performances as chosen by the actors themselves, despite a rich year for more international roles (you won’t see Oscar nominees Wagner Moura or Renate Reinsve or any representatives of their respective films “The Secret Agent” and “Sentimental Value” here).
Most impactful to the Academy Awards will be the winner of Cast Ensemble in a Motion Picture, which could go in any direction between “One Battle After Another,” “Sinners,” “Hamnet,” “Frankenstein,” and “Marty Supreme,” though we’re counting on a race between “One Battle” and “Sinners,” both Warner Bros. features.
