Noel Gallagher has said the documentary charting Oasis‘ reunion shows – which he reckons were “better than the ’90s” – will be “astonishing” for fans.

On Saturday night (February 28), Noel picked up the BRIT Award for Songwriter of the Year, with the awards show hitting his hometown of Manchester for in its near 50 year history.

The award was presented by Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie, with a video package that included a personal message from his beloved Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

Noel then took to the stage, paying tribute to the city and his bandmates. “Yes Manchester,” he said. “I’m gonna start by saying, I’ve gotta thank my brother, and Bonehead, Guigsy, Tony McCarroll, Alan White, Gem and Andy – they brought those songs to life. Without them, I’d just be a singer-songwriter, and no-one gives a shit about singer-songwriters.”

Speaking backstage following the victory, Noel reflected on last year’s historic Oasis reunion tour, saying it was “the most incredible thing that any of us have ever done. To come back after all these years, to get number one albums and all that is pretty mad, but we loved every minute and every second of it.”

An elated Noel added: “The gigs were amazing, particularly the ones in Manchester, and I’m kind of lost for words for it, really. The gigs spoke for themselves.”

He went on to say that every show was “ten out of ten” and said they were “truly astonishing”, before admitting that it was also “overwhelming in places to see the love for the band after all these years.”

Having admitted that the shows were “better than the ’90s” and “as good as it gets”, he also provided an updated on the upcoming documentary about their comeback. “I’ve only seen a tiny little bit of it and it’s difficult to have an opinion on it because I’m only looking at little snippets,” he said.

“Everyone who has seen it, or seen more of it than I have, has said that it’s amazing. If it even captures five per cent of what that tour was, it’ll be astonishing. Looking forward to it.”

Once the tour was underway, Peaky Blinders director Steven Knight was announced to be working as a producer on the reunion tour film, which is being directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, known for the LCD Soundsystem documentary Shut Up And Play The Hits.

For the documentary, Knight’s crew were allowed access to the meetings and rehearsal rooms that preceded the historic comeback, and sources claimed last year that Oasis fans would be “spellbound” by watching the brothers work through their feud.

The update comes after Noel recently revealed he was back in the studio, although whether this is for an Oasis project or something else is not yet clear.

At the end of last year, Liam said Oasis wouldn’t be touring again until 2027 at the earliest. He had previously teased that there were “loads more classics we need to play” on the road, and hinted at “a European tour”.

Oasis’ co-manager Alec McKinlay dismissed any hopes of new music from the band last year. In response, Liam tweeted: “The only people that will be making any kind of decisions on the future of OASIS will be ME n RKID [Noel] so let’s just take it one day at a time.”

In 2024, LG told fans that a new Oasis album was “already finished”. He raised hopes again later that year, claiming that he’d been “blown away” by the new material written by Noel.

He then went back on this in an update on X/Twitter, saying that there was “no Oasis album in the making”. Liam claimed that his prior comments were merely something he did for “a laugh”. But the frontman subsequently said “there could be an album”, depending on how the Live ’25 gigs went.
