Charli XCX has released the “Listening Event” short film for Music, Fashion, Film on YouTube. That means we can all click that eyeball on Letterboxd. Now the flex of having attended one of the listening parties in 25 cities across the globe can only be inferred from checking the date someone logged.
This is the first film from Charli XCX, director. Yet another venture into the three artforms that obsess her. “It’s not that I’m, like, an expert in any of those fields,” director XCX says to explain the album’s title. “It’s more just that they’re so intrinsically what my life is about.” The film has visuals for all 11 songs on the album, mostly differing from the officially-released music videos. Also interspersed throughout are audio snippets from interviews and Charli’s own voice notes to people like Vincent Cassel. And — of course — keep your eyes peeled for collaborators like A.G. Cook, The Moment director Aidan Zamiri, and husband George Daniel. Hi, George. He’s here!
