The game started without much in the way of scoring. Twin Rivers opened with the first basket, and St. Vincent led 4-2 at 5:17, but the Lady Royals fought back to take an 8-7 lead with three minutes left in the quarter.

It would be the last time the Lady Royals would lead the game. St. Vincent closed out the quarter with a 10-2 run, driven by a pressure defense that forced Twin Rivers into numerous turnovers. The Lady Indians ended the first quarter up 17-10.

Twin Rivers’ offensive woes grew worse in the second quarter, as an early 7-4 St. Vincent advantage pushed their lead to ten points at 24-14 with four minutes remaining in the half.

As the Lady Indians defense continued to stack up turnovers against the Lady Royals, they also stacked points, running away with the remainder of the period 14-5 for a 38-19 halftime lead.

“We were making our own mistakes,” Snider said. “It was a lot of unforced issues for us. We were mixing in some good shots, some shots that we wanted, but they just weren’t falling in.”

Twin Rivers cleaned up their turnovers in the third quarter, but it didn’t help them close the gap on St. Vincent, who maintained a lead of around 20 points throughout most of the period. The Lady Indians went into the final quarter up 48-29.

Although a big crowd of Twin Rivers’ supporters made the trip to Sikeston to cheer on the Lady Royals, they didn’t have much to cheer about in the fourth quarter, as St. Vincent outscored Twin Rivers 15-4 to close out the game and the Lady Royals’ season.

Twin Rivers ends their season with a 19-10 record. St. Vincent improved to 22-7. They will face Arcadia Valley on Friday at Arcadia Valley High School in Ironton.
