The School of Music will host the School of Music Symposium: Baroque Music from March 8–13, 2026, bringing together students, faculty, guest artists, and community members for a dynamic week of scholarship, performance, and artistic collaboration.

Designed to unite instrumental and vocal areas, the symposium offers an in-depth exploration of Baroque music through historical context, performance practice, and contemporary relevance. The weeklong program emphasizes interdisciplinary dialogue, encouraging participants to engage critically and creatively with the Baroque tradition while discovering its continued influence on today’s musical landscape.

Throughout the symposium, students and faculty will take part in immersive academic and artistic experiences, including lectures, presentations, masterclasses, and performances. Distinguished guest artists will join the School of Music to share their expertise, enriching both classroom study and performance practice while modeling professional-level artistry.

The symposium opens on Sunday, March 8, at 6:30 p.m. with an opening concert by Lyrica Baroque in Angelle Hall. This kickoff concert sets the tone for a week dedicated to collaboration, curiosity, and shared musical discovery.

By creating space for collective study and performance, the Baroque Symposium establishes an exciting model for engaging deeply with historical repertoire while inspiring new connections across generations of musicians. The event reflects the School of Music’s ongoing commitment to high-level artistic experiences that bridge tradition and innovation.

Community members, alumni, and friends of the School of Music are warmly invited to follow the week’s events and participate. Those interested in attending as community participants may register online at: Free Registration
