STARKVILLE, Miss.—Mississippi State’s Department of Music presents a variety of concerts this spring, ranging from jazz and percussion ensembles to choirs and musical theater.

Select events are ticketed to support programming, specific honorariums and technical and academic services. For box office information for each event, visit www.music.msstate.edu/events.

The spring lineup includes:

—March 19, 7 p.m., Choirs, “An Evening with Dr. Michael Trotta” featuring State Singers, First Baptist Church of Starkville, ticketed

—March 23, 7:30 p.m., Faculty Recital, “Simple Songs, Rich Traditions: Russian Songs for Young Singers” featuring Jeanette Fontaine, mezzo-soprano, and Anne Katherine Ragsdale, piano, Recital Hall, MSU Music Building, free

—March 24, 7:30 p.m., Faculty Recital, “Echoes of France” featuring Olivia Boatman, flute; Jessica Haislip, oboe; Matthew Haislip, French horn; Bret Pimentel, clarinet; Denise Rowan, bassoon; and Rosângela Sebba, piano; Recital Hall, Music Building, free

—March 28, 2 p.m., Starkville-MSU Symphony Orchestra’s “Echoes of Elegance” featuring Nicholaus Cummins, MSU Choirs and the symphony chorus, Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall, ticketed

—March 31, 7:30 p.m., Wind Ensemble, “Symphonic Horizons,” Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall, free

—April 11, 7:30 p.m., Faculty Recital, “Baroque and Beyond” featuring Jessica Haislip, oboe, and Anne Katherine Ragsdale, piano, Recital Hall, MSU Music Building, free

—April 12, 2 p.m., Concert Bands, “Harmonic Heritage,” Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall, free

—April 16-18, 7:30 p.m., and April 19, 2 p.m., MSU Department of Music in collaboration with Theatre MSU, “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” McComas Hall Theater, ticketed

—April 20, 7:30 p.m., MSU Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia, “Vibrant Latin America,” Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall, ticketed

—April 23, 7:30 p.m., Wind Ensemble, “Winds in Time,” Bettersworth Auditorium, Lee Hall, free

—April 24, 7:30 p.m., Jazz Ensemble Spring Concert, Recital Hall, Music Building, free

—April 25, noon, Percussion Symposium featuring Percussion Ensemble, Steel Band and high school and community college percussion students, Choral Hall, Music Building, free

Designated as an All-Steinway School, MSU’s Department of Music is housed in a $21 million, state-of-the-art facility equipped with sound-proof practice rooms, a high-tech recording studio, an acoustically advanced lecture-recital hall, more than $3.5 million in Steinway pianos and more.
