A ROYAL helicopter touched down in Herefordshire on Wednesday during a trip to Brecon to honour a former lady-in-waiting.
Princess Anne, Prince William and the Duchess of Edinburgh were reported to have been in attendance at a memorial service to the late Dame Shan Legge-Bourke at Brecon Cathedral on March 4.
The royals travelled to and from the service by royal helicopter, Hello! reported, with a Leonardo AW139 that was masking its identity on flight tracker FlightRadar then seen travelling from Brecon to Credenhill, landing in Herefordshire shortly after midday.
Planefinder.net shows royal helicopter G-XXEF travelling from London to Brecon via Gloucester on Wednesday, stopping in Brecon before heading to Credenhill for an hour and then returning to Brecon and onwards to London.
It was reported in 2024 that there were plans to replace the aging Sikorsky helicopters used by the royals with AgustaWestland AW139s.
Two AW139s are currently operated by the King’s Helicopter Flight
Dame Shan Legge-Bourke, who died in December, was the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry’s nanny, Tiggy Legge-Bourke and a former lady in waiting to the Princess Royal.
She had inherited the Glanusk Estate in Crickhowell, Powys, from her father, the third Baron Glanusk in 1948 and served as Lord Lieutenant of Powys from 1998 to 2018.
